Yesterday, September 2, ten of us left Utica Park at 9:40 AM for a 36.2 mile ride: Mark Blau, Vicki Crum, Cathy Flanagan, Andrew Flint, Ray Gable, Judy Goffi, Jeff Johnson, Wayne Kaiser, Louanne Welgoss and myself. We started out with cloudy skies and we only got a little spit of rain during the ride. We made our way to Loy’s Station Bridge, where we took a rest stop and a picture, then went over Appolds Road to Motters Station. When we got to Blacks Mill and Old Frederick a couple of the group, stopped at the corner store to replenish their water. We made our way up Blue Mountain to Catoctin Furnance Road by way of Brice and Kelly’s Store Roads, then did a wonderful downhill to Blacks Mill Road. I dropped my chain during the ride and thanks to Andrew Flint it was back on my gears in no time. We had an enjoyable time together during the ride. At the end we went over Utica Bridge and made our way back to the park.
