Train for the Tour de Frederick!

Have you ever wanted to complete a metric century (~62 miles)? Here is a chance for riders to build their confidence and strength as we prepare for the Tour de Frederick on 8/13/2022.

If there is interest, email me at clubmail@frederickpedalers.org. We will schedule weekend rides starting the end of June/beginning of July along last year’s ride route in order for riders to build strength and endurance in order for them to complete their goals.

Training rides will be at the “C” pace 10-12 mph. Riders should be prepared to ride between 25 and 30 miles over rolling hills and it is highly encouraged that you ride at least one or two additional days per week to prepare for these rides. Hope to see you there – Patrick

Cycling Advocacy

I am looking for a bike advocate who lives near the C&O canal towpath and resides in MD US congressional district 6.

I am working with other bike and pedestrian advocates within the C&O canal region to share with Rep Trone’s office the opportunity that the Active Transportation Infrastructure Investment Program could have on funding trails and active transportation networks in District 6.

We want to petition Rep Trone for his support of this program in Fiscal year 2023 appropriations bill. Frederick County has a Bikeways & Trails Plan that envisions a network connection for cyclers and pedestrians that links to the C&O canal towpath. This would not only serve as an important connector for Frederick County Residents but also serve as a key access point for visitors on C&O canal towpath.

Can you help me find someone who would be interested in participating in this conversation with Rep Trone to petition his office to support this program? We are looking at mid-January to set up a meeting with his office. If interested, please contact Shayne Boucher shayne@bikefrederick.org
