Civil War Rail Trail

For rail trail enthusiasts and those who live in Hagerstown.

This Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at 10:15 a.m. Chip Wood and Dan Spedden will be reporting to the Washington County Board of Commissioners on the proposed 24-mile long Civil War Rail Trail (CWRT) linking the C&O Canal near Weverton to Hagerstown City Park. The meeting will held at 100 W. Washington Street in downtown Hagerstown.  Please plan to attend, if possible, to show your support for building this destination trail.

Report on the Sunday Ride from Monocacy Middle School

On Sunday nine of us left Monocacy Middle School:  Vicki Crum, Harry deMoll, Ray Gable, Paul Lentz, Mike Procario, Terri Baker, Kibby Powell, Brian King and myself.  We enjoyed beautiful weather for our Sunday ride, which took us up Mountaindale Road until we could go no further due to gravel.

A stop at the Mountaindale Convenience Store was time for the group to give me a little lesson on how to take pictures on my new smart phone.  I just got it on Saturday, and it was making me feel very dumb!

Ray, Mike, and Harry tried to coast all the way from top of the hill on Putman to the intersection with Bethel Road. None of them made it all the way on Sunday. Ray made it the furthest as usual. We had a nice time riding and talking with each other.  Thanks for all who came out!
