Civil War Rail Trail

 

For rail trail enthusiasts and those who live in Hagerstown.

This Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at 10:15 a.m. Chip Wood and Dan Spedden will be reporting to the Washington County Board of Commissioners on the proposed 24-mile long Civil War Rail Trail (CWRT) linking the C&O Canal near Weverton to Hagerstown City Park. The meeting will held at 100 W. Washington Street in downtown Hagerstown.  Please plan to attend, if possible, to show your support for building this destination trail.

Hills and Pacelines

When: Every Tuesday starting May 2, 2017

Where: Starting July 25, the start will be at Lewistown Elementary School

Length: 27 – 30 miles at a B pace

Ride Description: Hills and Pacelines returns again this year.   This ride will be 27 miles – 30 miles.  There will be several regrouping points; those in attendance are encouraged to ride as a team – until the last mile when all bets are off.

Road Closures

The county will repairing some bridges in the area that many of us ride.

The Frederick County Office of Transportation Engineering announced today that Old Frederick Road will be closed at the bridge over Fishing Creek on or about July 25, 2017. This will allow contractor, Kinsley Construction, Inc., to complete rehabilitation work on the bridge.

The Frederick County Office of Transportation Engineering announced today that Thurston Road will be closed at the bridge over Bennett Creek on or about August 1, 2017. This will allow contractor, Kinsley Construction, Inc., to complete rehabilitation work on the bridge.
